The traumatic cervical spinal cord injury from the history life narrative

Abstract

Traumatic cervical spinal cord injury (TCSCI) is a catastrophic event that is sudden and unexpected and can be devastating and costly in human and social terms. The lesion has severe functional and organic consequences. Males aged 18–32 years old are primarily affects in developing countries. In Mexico TCSCI are typically associated with major trauma from motor vehicle accidents. It is a significant neurological medical issue. The TCSCI patient requires social support from friends and family as important contributors to their rehabilitation and to achieve his social reintegration. This study considers the medical and social aspects in order to contributed the knowledge and suggest strategies that could be useful from people who live similar situations. TCSCI usually demands a multidisciplinary approach. Immediate surgical decompression has been recommended as the first treatment to minimize the neurological damage. After this critical stage, the rehabilitation becomes the fundamental approach to get broad improvement.
